Description: The Osprey Migration was a 10-week international dance touring project from August 22 through October 31, 2002 that followed the southward migration of ospreys from their nesting sites in Maine along the Eastern Seaboard through Cuba to their winter homes in Venezuela. The tour had four components - free site-specific public performances, panel discussions, workshops, and web site - linking the worlds of science/conservation and dance/art. This project brought together artists and scientists, arts organizations and environmental organizations for 30 site-specific events along a 3500- mile tour route. Partners included were: several National Estuarine Research Reserves; Prospect Park Audubon Center, Brooklyn, NY; The Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor, NJ, The Noyes Museum, Oceanville, NJ; Hawk Mountain Sanctuary, Kempton, PA; Pocosin Art Center, Columbia, NC; South Carolina Aquarium, Charleston, SC; Miami Museum of Science, Miami, FL; Programa Sibarimar, Havana, Cuba; and Henri Pittier National Park, Maracay, Venezuela.
